History

The Lord's testimony in Hampton Roads

A brief account of how the church in Virginia Beach has come to where it stands today.

  1. 1960s

    Saints move to Hampton Roads

Some saints migrate into the Hampton Roads region, the second most populated area in the Commonwealth of Virginia outside Northern Virginia. A number of sisters who touched the ministry begin to meet in a small way in Virginia Beach for many years.

  2. Early 2000s

    Taking the Lord's Table together

The saints in Virginia Beach take the Lord's Table together with the neighboring church in Newport News.

  3. 2015

Lord's Day meetings resume in Virginia Beach

After more saints migrate, the church resumes Lord's Day meetings within the boundary of Virginia Beach.

  4. 2023

    Full-time serving team established

A team of full-time serving ones is established to reach nearby universities — Old Dominion University, Norfolk State University, and the College of William and Mary. The church and some saints purchase homes adjacent to ODU for shepherding students, meetings, and corporate living.

  5. Recent years

    Strengthened by military relocations

Because Hampton Roads has the largest concentration of US military personnel in the world, the church has been strengthened by the relocations of military families and brothers to the area.

  6. 2020 – 2025

    More than doubled in size

By the Lord's grace and blessing, the church has more than doubled in five years through migration, increase from the community, and the Old Dominion University campus. The church now consistently has 60 adults and 30 children meeting on the Lord's Day.
