April 2026 update — single-story redesign and contractor on board

After an initial design review we redesigned the building to stay on a single story. Our hope is to save approximately $500,000 by avoiding the zoning code requirements for an elevator and two fire-rated staircases, while keeping the same usable space as the previous three-floor design.

We have signed a contract with a local contractor, Church Development Services, who will work with our civil engineering firm on the construction documents. We anticipate the submission, correction, and resubmission cycle with the city will take us into the Fall months of 2026.

Financially: a $300,000 loan from a nearby church helped secure the property for $425,000. The saints locally and a few other churches have contributed toward construction, and a further $300,000 has been pledged within the next year. We anticipate total construction costs of $2.5M – $3.0M and feel peaceful to begin construction once at least $1.5M of anticipated costs is in hand.

After the site plan process and as finances allow we will begin construction — the earliest being Fall 2026. As the work progresses we plan to open opportunities for brothers from the churches to come and labor together.
